Easingwold scout hut

Allium Energy donate and help rebuild Dawney Scout hut

The day, a year ago, when we were first approached by Easingwold Scouts, to make a donation towards the fund raiser to build a new Scout Hut, seems an age ago.

Easingwold scouts had been using the Dawney Scout hut for decades, believe it or not it have been donated from a nearby RAF regiment shortly after the second world war.

It soon became clear that fund raising in itself, would take many years to generate the fund needed. However, through the money that we had formerly collected into the Landfill Tax fund, managed by Monde Green. We were able to support an application to fully fund the rebuilding of Dawne Scout Hut for Easingwold Scouts. The Dawney Scout facility is our nearest community hub and used extensively by the wider Easingwold Scouts and other community groups.

The executive committee and scouts have worked tirelessly and in Autumn 2019 the demolition of the old hut took place, with the portal frame of the new timber building rising from the ground during spring of this year.

Whilst Covid has prevented Easingwold Scouts from being on site, a huge amount of construction has taken place. Fingers crossed Easingwold Scouts will be able to enjoy the finished Dawney Scout hut from late Summer.

Allium Energy and Allium Helmsley Ltd feel proud to have been able to support and fund such a great project. Hopefully the new Dawney Scout hut will become a great hub for many other groups from Easingwold, Huby and the wider district.
